| This is the view of the glass tile that surrounds
the upstairs bathroom and provided the enclosures for the tub and
the shower. As you can see, there is no spacing for grout so unfortunately
the shower and tub enclosures suffered major water damage behind
the tiles to the walls. The first project that was begun in the
house upon purchase was to attempt repair of the walls without
disturbing the tiles to make the tub and shower usable. Unfortunately,
the walls were too damaged to repair and some of the tiles in the
enclosures were so badly cracked or missing that the decision was
made to remove the remaining good tiles in the enclosures, repair
the damage to the walls, then replace the original tile with new
tile. It appeared as if the shower had not been used in a number
of years, since it had a number of the green tiles totally missing
and major cobwebs behind the door. The mixing valve in the shower
was frozen shut. The previous homeowner had used contact paper
to cover the missing and damaged tiles in the tub enclosure to
attempt to make it usable. |
